Waipa!! (sp?) -- proper spelling and meaning?

I have heard different Dominicans use this word and have heard it in a song. Does anyone know the proper spelling and meaning? Thanks.

It's just an exclamation of approval, surprise, or similar. I've seen it spelled as "uepa".

probably derived from "aupa" , which generally means the same as " arriba!"

Uepa is an expression of approval, surprise also is used to get someone’s attention and more but positive meaning. I could not find it in the dictionary but I will place some examples of how is used.
uepa is also the same as epa

uepa que linda te ves....OHHHHH you look beautiful.
Uepa tu si estas chula....Wao you look good
Epa a donde vas..........uuuuuuuuuuu where are you going?
Uepa Jose esperame......Hey Jose wait for me.....

also whistle then the word uepa...calling someone from a distance.
Now this uses have been in the country no in the City specifically Bayaguana where I am from.

Aupa is the same as upa and as far as I can remember is us only for babies is kind of a baby talk for the infant to get up on his/her own. Especially when they are learning to walk or a parent is trying to teach the infant. Also if the infant fells a parent would use the word to motivate the infant to get up by him/herself..
