The horoscope in Spanish is a good way to learn how to express yourself in the language as it tends to deal with all types of issues on a personal level. Whether you believe in it or not, read it on a regular basis or not, or just read it for fun, your horoscope in Spanish can be a good source of vocabulary and help with your sentence structure. Once again you can see how certain ideas are expressed in the language which may not be easy to express if you have never heard that particular concept, idea, expression etc. used in Spanish.

As well, some grammar weaknesses can be analyzed and corrected such as the subjunctive by reading the phrases and questioning why a particular verb form, preposition or grammatical structure was used. In language, another true sign of command by a true bilingual speaker is the ability to express his or her sentiments or personal feelings. Regardless, what the situation is, if one can express himself/herself correctly, clearly and with grammar control in either language is a sign of true command. An example would be using the correct imperative forms, the subjunctive, and proper grammar control when expressing oneself in different types of conversations - a debate, a dialogue, expressing personal feelings or issues etc. The horoscope in Spanish offers a good variety of grammar and sentence structure in Spanish worth analyzing and presents another fun way of examining certain aspects of the language.

Walter Mercado's horoscope in Spanish is quite popular in a few Spanish newspapers. Here are some examples from today:

Quote:
Cáncer
21 de junio – 22 de julio

Refleja tu fuerza interior.

Grammar points-

In these short phrases many good grammar points are revealed:

1/ usage of the imperative- informal (tú)- Satúrate , no te desgastes, no te excedas, dedícate, tómate, adáptate etc.

2/ adjectives- some adjectives can go before or after the noun but with a change in nuance. These are examples of good usage- nuevas experiencias, buenas intenciones

3/ handy vocabulary and phrases that are common in Spanish- medio ambiente, llevar a cabo, déjate llevar por la corriente, por el momento

4/ subjunctive- llevar a cabo algún tipo de actividad que te distraiga, Concentra tus energías en aquello que te ayude a progresar, Concéntrate en lo que estés haciendo, Lo que hasta el momento puedas lograr establecer ... - it's necessary to understand why these verb forms are in the subjunctive from a grammar perspective.

Once again this is a fun, interesting and a challenging way to test and discover your own grammatical strengths and weaknesses.
