Maybe silly question: what is a "perro cinqueño"?

Happy 2009 everybody!

I found this link about Dominican leyendas and I forgot (if I ever knew) what a perro (dog) cinqueño is. The sentence I first saw it is "Otros dicen que es menester utilizar un arma blanca que haya sido bendecida con agua y sal, o utilizando la magia atribuida al perro cinqueño." The first thing I did was to look for the word at rae.es but what it says is "5-year old cow".

What exactly is that kind of dog?

Lore states that the only way to capture a ciguapa is by tracking them at night, during a full moon, with a black and white polydactylic dog with (called cinqueño dog).

namely, not very common, thus not very easy to catch a ciguapa.

There are 6 toed dogs IRL - a Norwegian breed used for mountain climbing because of its extra assets.
