Default Difficult translation, please!

Hey y'all

I am running an art contest and was wondering if any of you could help with the translation. The tag line is: "Can you make killer art?"

It's a difficult translation because the use of the word "killer" is extremely "young" (which is my target audience), and very slang, but I am not sure of how that sounds in Spanish.

I have these, thus far:

[NOTHING]

Any help would be appreciated....

Cheers,

Mr. Lu

Vacano or is it Bacano? Seen it both ways...

A couple of more...

¿Puedes crear arte jevi?

¿Puedes crear arte mortal?

¿Puedes crear arte apero? (from aspero)

¿Puedes crear arte Pesao?

I think I would say "¿Puedes crear una obra de arte...(add adjective here)?

This one is cool, cause it makes reference to the phrase by Omega, "Mambo Violento."

"Arte Violento!" Maybe even create a new slang...

Keep them coming. I like the brainstorming...It is giving me some good ideas.

I appreciate it all.

It's cool if you make sure the meaning comes through as you intend it to be and that it's not interpreted as "I'm looking for violent, gory art".

Agreed! I like your offerings of:
¿Puedes crear arte jevi?
¿Puedes crear arte mortal?

I also like your suggestion of adding adjectives but since the general idea is to target the young artistic crowd (text messaging type? BFF!) I suspect that the shorter versions are more hip or in.

BTW: I've seen it both ways too, vacano and bacano.

Actually, I think that using slang terms such as "jevi" and "pesao" would represent the art contest in a not-so-respectable way. The idea of using slang is definitely a way to appeal to the younger masses, but the word or phrase used should be "classier," for lack of a better word.

What kind of art contest is it?

You could look at the typography used by Omega and use the same for your poster or promotional material. That might help communicate that meaning.

Or "arte" that you find in those barrios scribbled on walls.
