Default Route from Santiago to Constanza

Folks,
Looking at a map of the DR, there appears to be 2 ways to get to Constanza from Santiago:

1) Route 1 all the way to Route 12 to Constanza;
2) Route 1 to route 23 to Jarabacoa into 28 south to 12 east

Any comments on which is more scenic? Faster?

Thanks,
Mike

Default Only one way to go

If you want to get there in a day

Santiago to the Constanza highway near Bonao.

The highway between Jarabacoa and Constanza is in terrible condition.

Have fun!

HB

Thanks, Hillbilly. Do you know how long a ride it is?

Take the bumpy road, live dangerously It seemed like under 1.5 hours the direct route and 2-3 through Jarabacoa but NOT 100% sure.

If you have a Jeepeta, the road between Jarabacoa and Constanza offers some breathtaking views. As HB says, bad shape but it's worth it. You will be driving on the ridge of the mountains and going through small towns. Really worth the trip. Then, come back on the main road from Constanza to the main highway. Enjoy.

Eddy, I like your approach. I'll have a Suzuki 4 wheel so I should be fine. Thanks everyone for your input.
