Default Taking the Ferry from Mayagüez to Santo Domingo. What do I do once my car is there?

Hi all, this is my first post.

I've been in DR plenty of times, and I've driven rental cars there. I live in Florida, but I have a car/house in San Juan since I spend 3-4 months there a year. I've never taken the ferry, so it's something I want to do. I haven't been able to get a straight answer from Ferries del Caribe in DR or PR, about what duties (if any) will have to be paid and vehicle insurance, etc. The car is a 2001 Isuzu Trooper, worth approx US$15k.

Also, I don't think my PR insurance won't cover me in the Dominican Republic, so if anyone can recommend a local company that would insure a vehicle registered in PR, that would be highly appreciated.

Any help is appreciated.

-Rob

Default Do a search

entering "Mayaguez ferry" and look at all the threads on the subject. I don't know if you'll find the specific info you are seeking on insurance, etc., but you might change your mind about the whole idea! It seems not many who have made the trip would do it again.
