Question travel from Samana to Sousa?

Hi,
I am interested in travel from
Samana to Sousa or Puerto Plata for mid-January.
Can a car be rented in Samana and dropped off in either city?
If not, what about a bus or plane?
Thanks.

There is a bus that passes through Sosua about 7 am every day on its way from Puerto Plata to Samana. Arrives in Samana about 10:20. It leaves Samana at 2 pm and gets to Sosua about 5:30 on its way to Puerto Plata.

It is not a Caribe Tours or Metro, but it has been making the round trip for a long time and is a reliable means of transportation. I have ridden that bus many times. And it certainly is a heck of a lot cheaper than renting a car.

Perhaps I'm a bit demanding but, when I ride in a bus I prefer to sit in a seat where my legs fit in front of me as opposed to having to sit sideways for 4 hours!

There are two buses that leave from in front of La Marina at 6:00 AM and 8:15 AM. These go from Las Terenas to Santiago. From Santiago there are buses every hour to Sosua.

HB

And I agree with Ken: Those two buses have been on this board for a very long time and provide a steady service. Many people have ridden them and walked away with a smile.... Hey! It's the DR!!!

when are you talking about?
i'll have a vehicle and will be going from samana back to sosua probably the 19 or 20th of january. could easily give you a lift.

regarding the chicken bus:
i've also done that many times and found it to be a rather fun experience. one trip, the driver had 3 large presidentes (that he split with a lady in the front seat) by the time we got to puerto plata. another, the bus broke down between boba and cabrera. after some passengers transfered to a passing taxi, it mysteriously started again and we had no further problems.
i got pics of that one:

the seats aren't as good as caribe or metro, but they're not near as bad as a guagua.

get there early and grab the window seat by the door.

I could be digging myself into a hole, but the bus I;m talking about isn't the one pictured here. It's purple and yellow and travels between PP and Samana daily.
