Puerto Plata - Cap Haitien/Gonaïves?
Hello
I already posted a similar question and I am sorry to bother you with this but if anyone has an idea of the best way to go from Puerto Plata to Cap Haitien please let me know. I am thinking about taking Caribetours to Santiago, switch there for Dajabon, cross the border by foot and get a taptap from Ouanaminthe to Cap H.
Does anyone know of a more convenient way, like a bus going directly from Puerto Plata to Cap H, or at least to Dajabón?
(I am heading for Gonaïves but I figure the only way is through Cap H)
Thanks!

I am going to presume that you are Haitian and know the country? I certainly would not recommend this trip for anyone not really and truly familiar with the country.
Yes, I do think you can cross over at Dajabón and then tak tap taps to Cap and then to Gonaïves.
Your other option is to go by Caribe Tours to Santo Domingo an then to PAP. THEN up to Gonaïves.
Good Luck,

tap tap from Ouanaminthe to Cap Haitien is a bit uncomfortable, but no such a big deal. Make sure your back-pack is not too large !
Once in Cap Haitien, spend some money on a nice hotel room in Hotel Mont-Joli, and swim in the pool, before watching sunset from the deck while sipping a Barbancourt 5 étoiles on the rocks...

Guys, I've done the Ounaminthe-Cap Haitien taptap tour once too. It's quite an experience, for sure, but you don't need to be Rambo or anything. It's like a guagua but less comfortable, that's all. So I don't know what you mean Hillbilly.
Thanks for your replies but - not to be rude or anything - what I asked was not if I can do this trip again, nor whether I should or not, but if there's any alternative, coming from Puerto Plata. Or at least a direct bus from PP to Dajabón.
Surely, a lot of Haitians live in the PP area. There must be a more simple way to go from there to Haiti than getting off to change buses in both Santiago and at the border. No?
Going through Santo Domingo and Port-au-Prince seems to be quite a detour, as I am coming from the north of DR and heading for the north of Haiti.
It's funny how this "go / don't go" discussion always comes up when someone asks about trips to Haiti. Even if they didn't ask about whether they should go or not. On the other hand I don't mind because a) I get a chance to share my nice experiences from Haiti and b) I get to feel brave... although I'm not particularly

there are probably some Dominican tap taps you could take from POP to Navarrete, and there you can catch the Caribe Tours to Dajabón....

From Puerto Plata take the "Javilla Tours" bus to Navarrete, and there, the "Expresso Liñero" to Dajabon, as simple as this...
There's no other way expect a nice overnight sailing from Luperon to Labadie (!!!)

More info about these options please! From where does the Javilla tours bus leave and at which hours. And the one from Navarrete?
And most of all - the Luperon - Labadie line? Does this really exist? Where can I get more info?
Thanks!

Luperon Labadie line is only for private sailors (!!!)
"Javilla Tours" leaves from La Javilla (!!!) in PP... Don't know the hours, but it seems one bus leaves every 15 mn...
In Navarrete, stop at "la Rotonda" and ask for the "expresso liñero" that goes to Dajabon, it 's right there at the same rotonda...
In Dajabon, ask for the "aduanas"...
