Caribe Tours doesn't make unscheduled stops.

Never been a problem for me. The Santiago to Puerto Plata bus always (at least all of the 6-8 times I tried it) will let me off at the Zona Franca before we get to Puerto Plata. My usual tip is RD$100, about 1/2 of a return taxi ride from town, and a 1/2 hour savings in time.

Classic Dominican situation. The COMPANY has a policy "no unscheduled stops", accurately expressed by Ken, who is the acknowledged DR1 expert on bus transportation. The DRIVER, on the other hand, has a policy of his own which is "since I only make about 400 pesos a day to drive this rig, there is no way I'm gunna turn down 100 to stop for a few seconds and let this guy off." It is of course possible that a different driver may have a different policy, but this being the DR, it's not likely. It's also unlikely the passangers will care because they're used to it and either they've done it themselves before, or would in the future if it suited them.
