Santo Domingo to Playa Confresi
i'm looking into taking the bus from Santo Domingo to Playa Confresi on Sat. Is there a bus that makes a stop there? if not, what's the best way to get from Puerto Plata to Playa Confresi.
I will be staying at Quisqueyna in Santo Domingo. So I think the closest bus for me to take would be Caribe Tours? correct?
thanks for your help.

I think
you are referring to Cofresi (without the "n"). If this is the case, the Caribe Tours bus that goes from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata passes right by the entrance to Cofresi on the North Coast Highway. At that point you are, I believe, less than a Km from the beach. You should be able to have the bus driver stop and let you off, and perhaps arrange for transport from there through your hotel. If not for luggage you could just catch a motoconcho. I somehow doubt there will be taxi's around at that intersection, so it would be best to arrange for someone to meet you.
By the way, this will be over a 4 hour trip from the bus station in SD, with a 15 minute rest stop in Santiago.

A word of advice: Take the earliest bus you can get..Like 6:00 a.m.!! Not kidding.
Everyone will be moving that day...

Where in Cofresi are you going? For example, Sun Village is only 50 yards from the highway. A small tip to the bus driver will get you off right there, no need to go all the way into Puerto Plata.

I don't know exactly what the gua gua from Puerto Plata would cost (not much), but that seems like such a convoluted way to go anyway when you will pass by so close on the way. In any event, the gua gua will probably only get you to the entrance to Cofresi on the highway, not to your hotel, so you will be no better off for going into Puerto Plata and back. If it were me, I would try HOWMARs suggestion and offer the Bus driver a tip to drop me off at the entrance to Cofresi.

And as HB alluded to, Sat. will be madness at the beach. The road from the highway to the beach will probably be impassible. So figure a 15-20 minute stroll from the highway anyway. Luckily, it's mostly downhill.

I suppose you should pay with Dominican pesos, probably about RD$20 pesos
And, in that part of the world, everything will be open for the "idiots"** that are having a lot of fun during Holy Week..
Enjoy!
