Default Directions to El Malecon

As a Dominican-born, I should be ashamed to ask the following question, but I have not been to DR in so many years that I forget how to get around.
Can anyone tell me how to get from the airport to El malecon. I will be picking up my car when I get to the airport, but I think I might need directions to the Malecon area. That's where my hotel is. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Joel

Are we talking from POP airport to Puerto Plata's Malecon, or SDQ to Santo Domingo's Malecon?

I mean from the STO DGO airport. I know it is just a short drive, but it has been too long for me.

Take the Las Americas Expressway. As you see you are approaching the city -- you will know because there are more businesses alongside the road you will come to a major turn to the left -- I believe that is the first stop light. Take that turn to the left (southside). That will put you on Avenida España. Then follow Avenida España and the flow of cars that will take you pass the Naval Base installations -- believe there is a statue to sugar cane cutters in the vicinity. Shortly after you need to turn to the left (towards the Ozama River) to get on the Puente Flotante. The Puente Flotante puts you on the Avenida del Puerto (to the left -- southside again). You just follow that and you will reach your hotel. It flows into the Malecon.

Another way is just to go straight all the way on Las Americas Expressway and cross on Juan Bosch bridge (the newer one) and then instead of taking the lanes for the Elevado, take the left lane and then turn left where the street ends. Follow that street all the way down and you will be put on Arzobispo Meriño that will lead straight down to the Malecon.
