There is NO car ferry across the Samaná Bay!

In fact the people ferries often times have to use smaller craft to get their passengers ashore in Saban de la Mar.

This has been talked about for years. The silting near the other shore that Hillbilly refers to is just one of the problems that would have to be dealt with.

Default Promises

Samanás senator and its congressman, aswell as the mayor of Las Terrenas have promised in a recent meeting to take this issue at hand, once again. Time will tell.

So does that mean there *is* a people-only ferry across the bay? Does anyone have info...websites and/or dock locations/schedules/prices for this?

Thanks!

1. The ferry exists and takes passengers and the odd motorcyle.
2. No website.
3. Samaná de Santa Barbara < > Sabana de la mar.
4. 2 or 3 runs in the morning, 2 in the afternoon.
When I went last it was 100 RD$ each trip.

I'm thinking of taking the ferry next month...does anyone have an idea of the distance/driving time from, say Las Terenas to the ferry on the Samana side, and to the Punta Cana Airport from the Sabana del Mar side?

Another question... has anyone taken the Samana - PUJ flight with TakeOff Tours...or another airline lately?

About 45 to 60 min (not rushing it).
