Cabarete to Samana Penninsula

Hello, my son (18yo) and I will be traveling to the DR for the first time and staying in Cabarete from 12/29 to 01/01. We will then travel to Las Terrenas to spend 4 days riding atv's.

I need suggestions regarding the best way to travel to Las Terrenas from Cabarete. Also, any suggestions on where to stay, and how best enjoy New Years eve in Cabarete would be greatly appreciated.

Little bus -- Transporte Papagayo (~$5 USD X 2 ), Taxi (~$110 USD).

Been there, done that!

Screw the "Little bus," it's at least 50 years old with child sized seats made of granite, and someone soled the suspension 40 years ago. Plus the bus doesn't go to Las Terrenas, you have to get off at Sanchez and then find transport to Las Terrenas.

My advice would be to either rent a car, or negotiate with a taxi driver to take you there and pick you up again.

If you decide to do the bus thing, it’s locally known as the ‘purple bus’ on the front it says Porto Plata – Samana. It goes through Cabarete a little after 7:00 am; you’ll need to ask in town where the stop is.

Las Terrenas at that time will be busy, high prices and fully booked places are to be expected (at least until 'Los Reyes')
I'd recommend booking asap.
