Default SDQ to Cabarete

I'm arriving at SDQ next Sunday. We will be renting a car for the 3 weeks we're there. I've driven in the DR many times. After getting the rental car, I'd like to go to the Harley Davidson store in Santo Domingo, then on to Cabarete.

Can someone help me with directions? The Harley dealer is:

Magna Motors, S.A.
Ave. J.F. Kennedy Esq.
Abraham Lincoln, Edif. Magna
Santo Domingo, , DOM

Thanks

MCM

OK, from SDQ airport take Las Americas towards Santo Domingo, cross the big bridge (Puente Duarte), Las Americas turn into"27 de Febrero", after crossing the bridge take the "27 de Febrero - ELEVADO" (elevated highway). Just after getting off elevado, turn right (you will see a pedestrian overpass). The street is Maximo Gomez. You will have olympic park on your left. On the next intersection (you will see another pedestrian overpass) turn left - that is the Avenida Kennedy. Keep on Kennedy (heading WEST), Lincoln will be the 4th major intersection.

Because Lincoln turns into Los Proceres after crossing Kennedy, the address is most probably on the Lincoln part, so you would need to turn LEFT (SOUTH) from Kennedy into Lincoln. Ask there where the exact location of the business is.

Once you are done, position yourself back on Lincoln, heading Kennedy (NORTH) (where you came from) and get back to Kennedy by turning LEFT (heading WEST). After you get to Kennedy, just keep on straight, no turns, and you will be heading into Autopista Duarte, north to Santiago and off you go to Cabarete.

I have a PDF map of Santo Domingo, PM me your email address if you want it.

Thanks.....Is there a cut-off to go to Cabarete off of the Autopista near Santiago or do I have to go to Puerto Plata first?

Default Cabarete short-cut

From Santo Domingo, IMHO, the shortest route to Cabarete is via Moca (exit off Autopista Duarte, just past La Vega) then Jamao then Gaspar Hernandez (turn left at coast highway 15 min. to Cabarete). Should save 45 min - 1 hour. Beautiful drive.

I don't have my old reliable B&B map with me right now, but I know from painful experience (flat tire) that the road that goes to Gaspar Hernandez is in horrible shape, and also would be further than the road which intersects the North Coast Highway at Sabaneta (closer to Caberete). That's the one you want to take; shorter and a better road.

After looking at the map, as I thought, GOLFGUY's directions are right on except substitute Sabaneta de Yasica instead of Gaspar Hernandez as the name of the town where the road which goes through Moca and Jamao intersects with the North Coast highway.

There are basically 3 main routes from Santiago to the North Coast, and there are strong opinions on this board as to which is best. I feel very strongly all 3 ways!

If your destination is Cabarete (or points East), the route described here is best.

If you are going to Sosua or the East side of Puerto Plata (Playa Dorada), take the Carretera Turistica. (Yes, I know the road is not as good, but it's closer.)

If you are headed to the West side of Puerto Plata (Cofresi or Costumbar) take the Autopista Duarte toward Navarete to the North Coast highway.
