Default Bavaro Beach to La Romana

What's the best and easiest way to get to La Romana from Bavaro Beach? How long does it take to get there?

When are you going (depends, because some roads are closed for repairs), and how do you want to get there:

Public transport, taxi, own driving?

Public transport: Take a bus from Bavaro to Higuey (from Friusa bus terminal) and get off in Higuey in fornt of Basilica.
There, take regular bus (not Expreso) from Higuey (right in front of Basilica) to Santo Domingo and get off in La Romana (Sichoprola). You can also take LRM express bus to La Romana (Sitraihr) (around the corner from Basilica, right next to MAMBO FM radio station). Total cost: about 200 pesos.

Taxi: If you take taxi from Bavaro, it will cost you a buck (more than 100 dollars). If you call taxi from Higuey (e.g. Rapidotaxi, Garrido Taxi, Primi taxi) it will cost about 2000 pesos (60 dollars).

Driving: Take the road Bavaro - Veron - Otra Banda - Higuey (if driving after 10 days from today's post date), in Higuey follow signs to Santo Domingo, you will get to la Romana on that route. Travel time is about 2 hours.
(If less than 10 days from today's post date) you have to take Macao route: from Plaza Bavaro, follow the road to Riu hotels, Bahia Principe, and follow the traffic, lots of Potholes on the road, on Macao intersection make a left, good road form now on, follow the traffic, via some small villages, get to Otra Banda, from there straight on to Higuey, then La Romana as above. Travel time about the same (2 hours). Cost of gasoline: about 250 pesos

Driving in the DR isn't like driving in North America or Europe, consider that option carefully, perhaps after you arive!
