Default Santiago to Cabarete?

We will be flying into Santiago (arriving 4 am) and are looking for the best way to get to Cabarete. We have plenty of time that day (we can't check into our hotel until the afternoon anyway), but we'd also like to arrange for travel back to Santiago a week later. Do most services schedule round-trip deliveries, or are we better out to figure out the two routes separately?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Did you want a taxi or bus recommendation?

Hi Rocky,

Either will work - money is certainly somewhat of a consideration, but we'd like to know all of our options.

Thanks!

The bus option is inconvenient because of your arrival time.
Nevertheless, it goes like this.
Taxi into Santiago, 15 to 20 bux, then a wait till the first Caribe Tours bus to Sosua which takes a couple of hours and cost 6 or 7 bux apiece, then a cab to Cabarete or public transport, depending on how much luggage you have and how tired you are at that point.
Taxi picking you up, door to door service is 80 bux.
I'm on my laptop right now so don't have their website but do have the email address.
Super well reputed people, speak English and are nice folks.

You leave your bags in the lobby until you can get into your room, hang at the beach, or whatever.

I concur with The Rock' s reco. using JJ, especially landing @ 4 AM.
' well worth a few extra bucks for door to door service with a trusted driver straight from STI to your hotel in Cabarete.

Have you entertained the thought of renting a car? I understand that money is a bit tight but the drive through the mountains, is very scenic! Not fun at night, or in the rain, as there is little to no lighting but during the day, it's a winding, turning, can't wait to see what's around the next corner, blast! Must have the digital camera with you. It would be super convenient to have the car for while in Cabarete and just cruising around too.
Good luck

I come in to Santiago on the 4 am flight on a regular basis and I trongly recommend that you hire a reliable taxi to bring you to Cabarete. The road accross the mountains is very curvy and dangerous at night. I have always used Venceslao, a licensed taxi driver who knows the roads like the back of his hand. His cell is 809 866-0438. He's never let me down, always is courteous, speaks English and I trust his driving. $80/one way.

Thanks, everyone! We will likely book a taxi each way (I'll try JJ first).

JJ is the established driver, for sure. He is funny, prompt and safe. He has saved my bacon when I needed him, and he will do you right.
