Default Getting from Barahona to Jarabocoa

Is there any (safe and practical) way to get from Barahona to Jarabocoa without going through Santo Domingo?
So far this is the only way I have been able to find (using Caribe Tours).

Im just trying to see if there is a direct way between the 2 places rather than make a connection.

Thanks in advance

Unless you have your own car, no.

How would you do it if you had a car. Is the road bypassing the Capital, from the Autopista Duarte to west of Bani passable by something other than a 4WD?

4x4 over the mountains from Ocoa....not the easiest nor fastest route...
Not many options...you could go to the frontier and go up the International Hwy, but you need Army passes and it is not the easiest way either...
