Cool from Sunscape Punta Cana to Altos De Chavon

We would like to find an excursion that could take us to Altos De Chavon. We will be staying at the Sunscape in Punta Cana. Can we also get licensed to scuba in DR and should we try and go to Catalina or scuba in Punta Cana

Diving around Catalina Island is by far better than in the Punta Cana area. This is not too far from Altos de Chavon but not sure if you wanted to do both on the same day.
You will likely be able to buy excursions to these 2 places through a rep. in you hotel.

Be aware though that it is a long trip, especially as your hotel is situated a bit further out.

Not able to provide any info on certification.

There will be excursion information at the resort and you will be able to make a reservation there for a trip to Altos de Chavon.

Scuba: There are many local companies; Scuba Caribe, Pelicano, Neptuno, and others, who offer instruction and dive excursions. Training would be local and diving would be local Punta Cana unless you desire to take a two hour transit one-way from Sunscape to train in the La Romana area (Catalina). The some of the local Punta Cana dive companies will offer pick-up and return to your resort from their dive and training sites. You will find information at the resort. Also, you will need to consult with the companies as to the length of their programs and cost. Keep in mind, if you are visiting the island for a week only, you may be trying to cram a lot of valuable vacation time (training) into a small window of opportunity.

Enjoy your visit.

Regards,
PJT

Sunscape Punta Cana is the former Occidental Allegro in Cabeza de Torro area.

You should be able to get a tour from your agency rep, or directly at the hotel from other reps (if your agency doesn't have one) at the reps' table.

You can also buy tours from independent agencies,
e.g.
Incentive in Dominican Republic - Tour Operator - DMC - El Caballo Tours - Corporate Travel
Colonial Tour and Travel: Incoming Tour Operator Dominican Republic
Domitur - Bienvenido
