Punta Cana to Santo Domingo

Coming to DR 1st time for 35th anniversary first week of April. Staying at the Bahia Principe in PC for the week but want to visit SD for a day or two. Can someone tell me the best way to get from this resort and back by bus and or taxi. Would like to go one day, stay overnight and come back the next day.
