Default Santo Domingo to Samana

On Las Americas, driving to SD after passing La Caleta, I see a sign on the rigth hand side ........To Samana. If you look to the right you see some sort of Toll booth.

Is this road supposed to conect Las Americas with Sanchez-Samana area?

Is this road open for travel now?

Thanks

That's the new SD-Samana highway, and no, it's not open yet. There is another active thread on the subject at the moment. When it is open, it'll cut the 4hr+ journey by half or more.

Default Hwy Pathway

For U guys to understand what I mean,,, to go to Samana (at least how I go) from SD you take la Carrt. Duarte to SFM, Castillo, Nagua, Sanchez and Samana. I say this because some people used to cut by cotui and save time,, did it once and got lost,,,, taking me 3 hours more!!! (Go ahead,,,, I am an idiot).

Which path is the new hwy taken? Which municipalities or towns are crossed?

CB

Thanks for the Pic.

Thanks for the Pic.
This hwy start at Autopista Las Americas near La Caleta intersect Carretera Mella at El Toro, continue to Guerra pass near the towns of Los Marenas, Malta Moreno, Boya, Sabana Grande de Boya, Los Mapolos, Las Coles, Rincon Molinillos and end at Cruce de Rincon, 20km west from Sanchez. Has about a dozen bridges and a few exits none to Los Haitises National Park, you have to go from Sanchez.
