Juan Dolio to Punta Cana

I do already know how to get to Punta Cana from Juan Dolio. However, a friend said that he made it there about 40 minutes faster going some new route. I could not quite understand his directions but it involves going on a different road after getting into Higuey. Does anyone know this route? If so, can you advise me where to turn? I will be heading that way the first weekend of May (with three kids) and I can shorten the drive everyone will be happier.

The route he is probably talking about is going via the sugar cane fields after the turn off for the Boca de Yuma which is before Higuey. This shortens the journey time by at least 40 mins. There was another thread on this where full directions were given, but if you can't find it then pm me and I will give you them again!
