Question bus service to and from santiago to samana???

I am flying into Santiago on 3/18 and staying in Las Galeras.
All of the information i have read regarding bus service to Peninsula de Samana is always originating from Santo Domingo.
So my question is this: Should i take a bus (either Metro or Caribe Tours) from Santiago down to Santo Domingo and then on to La Peninsula?
Or is there direct bus service from Santiago on highway 5 along the north coast and into La Peninsula de Samana?
It seems like it would be better/shorter along the north coast but maybe it would be more trouble than going the opposite way (through Santo Domingo)...I', not sure.

Any thoughts on this question would be greatly appreciated.

thank you,

dru

dru2112: No, what I am saying is that you can catch an early bus from Santiago to Samana, no problem. Landing at that time you won't have a problem.

Take a taxi into town (RD$500 pesos/$15) and go to the Parada de Samaná.
As long as your luggage is manageable there should be no issues whatsoever.

Let me know if you need more precise info, okay....I can get exact times of departure for you if you want.

You'll probably be in Samana by 10 a.m. or earlier...
