SD to Salcedo by car, how?

I may have a friend who wants to visit the Hermanas Mirabal museum and that has a car. What we need now is directions to get to Salcedo, as well as the state of the roads because his tyres are living its last days, hehehe.

I don't remember seeing any signs to Salcedo on our way to Samaná via SFM last year (before the new highway), so we go to La Vega and from there head to Salcedo, yes?

Piece of cake.
Go to San Francisco de Macorís, and turn left through Tenares to Salcedo.

OR, go to La Vega, get off Duarte Highway at the Sign to Villa Tapia, and go to the right, then go straight to Salcedo through Villa Tapia.

roads are good for the most part.
