Default Santo Domingo Malecon to Bani Highway

Could someone tell me the best way to go from the Malecon (Ave Independencia/Gascue) to the highway towards Bani? It will be 10 am- noon if that matters. Thanks

If you're driving, go west on the Malecon and keep going, past Haina, San Cristobal and follow the signs for Bani.

Or you can pick up the guagua "Expreso Bani" from the Malecon,

Bryan

OR YOU COULD go WEST on 27 de Febrero, go around the Plaza de la Bandera, go to the left at the first light then bear right and go straight at the second light...(you have to essentially go halfway around the traffic circle continue going west) and follow the signs to Autopista 5 de Noviembre....highway all the way to Bani...well, almost...

Goto the malecon then make a right(west) and keep going straight thru the toll at Haina then continue straight thru Sancristobal and onto Bani. Basiclly a straight run.

Not trying to hijack the thread as this is Bani related.

1) Driving time?
2) Doable as a one day trip?
3) What to do in Bani?

5? 6? Oh what's a day or two?? Yes, it is 6 November. Why should I know that? Because the highway goes to San Cristóbal, and in San Cristobal on 6 November 1844 they signed the first Dominican Constitution, and I should know That!!

And I should have realized that the Malecón essentially joins the 6 de Noviembre, probably there at the toll station. The last time I came back from there it was dark...not an excuse really..I have not taken the road from the capital to San Cristóbal for oh, say like mmmmmm oh 35 years????

Regarding whether or not is is doable in a day: Yes it is....Baní is not all that far and its surrounding beaches have become hide-aways for Sto Dgo wealthy to go and hide from the madding crowds..

Ta tah...

I think there are other reasons why they hide!

If you go to Bani you could consider a trip to Las Salinas to see the sand dunes and the salt pans.

Default Haina Connector?

Thanks for all the replies. On the map I have it looks like there is a connector road to the 6 November Highway just after Haina. Does it connect with the highway? I was looking to avoid the traffic in San Cristobal if at all possible.
