Bayahibe to Caberete

We will be visiting for the first time this December; and will be going from Bayahibe to Caberete the day after Christmas. So I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to make do this at a reasonable rate. Do Metro or Caribe go between the two locations and if so on what type of schedule?
