Driving directions from Santo Domingo to Cabarete

Hi,
I am new to this site and will be making my first trip to DR in early December. I want to rent a car and drive from Santo Domingo to Cabarete, leaving early on a Saturday morning. Can anyone please help me with specific directions or even maps if possible? And estimated travel time? I heard there is a very scenic mountainous route as well. I will be driving back to Santo Domingo on the following Monday to make it in time for a 2pm flight.
