Default Cabarete

Other people have suggested Sosua, which does have lots of restaurants. However, I would suggest taking the taxi or bus a little further along the coast to Cabarete. Great atmosphere with lots of great restaurants along the beach. Try the 'New Wave' for a drink afterwards. There is live music on a Saturday night also.

Playa Dorado complex is kind of between Sosua/Cabarete and Perta Plata. If you have several days try visiting Sosua/Cabarete for a day or two then go to Puerta Plata for a day or two as well. Both are interesting towns and slightly different with plenty of things to see and do.

Sosua/Cabarete are more touristy towns and much smaller with lots or european style restaurants. Everything in those towns is very close by and you wont need much transportation to get around. In fact you can walk around the main areas of either town and get from either town to the other rather cheaply via guagua or taxi also if you want to check both out.

Puerta Plata is a much more citylike setting. A much larger town requiring transportation to get around the entire city. Lots more to see and do as its a much larger place with both tourist and non tourist areas.

Hope this helps and enjoy your trip!
