first time goin to DR

wassup everyone i am plannin a trip to dr the end of may
this is my first time goin
i am black and pr mixed but i don't speak spanish
i think i look more latino and people tell me that all the time
i am lookin for something kinda cheap but very nice.
i am a gay (DL) man and wouldn't mind findin one in DR.

Iam not sure if i want an all inclusive or a regular hotel
and also not sure which part of the island i want to stay in
any help would be appreciated

Hey Blatin,
I went through the planning phase of a first trip to the DR recently. Can't help with the gay part, but, if you go to the 2001 archive on this board there was some discussion back in Oct. or Nov.

Basically, you choose from South DR - Santo Domingo (Capitol & largest city), East Coast - Punta Cana (just resorts) or the North Coast - Puerto Plata area (resorts & towns).

My girlfriend & I compromised on the North Coast in an all-inclusive resort (for her) in Playa Dorado (for me). I wanted access to "real" towns (Santiago, Puerto Plata, Sosua & Cabarete).
