Calling the US from Punta Cana

DON'T call from your hotel, made that $45US for 15min. mistake once. Not sure if they have Codetal offices in PC, they are in every town on north. I'm sure you will get more informative answers from some others but wanted you to know about calling from your room-definately poor option. Phone cards can be purchased all over DR but have only used them for island dialing.

Any little store or colmado sells calling cards that are good for calling anywhere. Pick up any public phone and use that, it will work fine...

Or pick up the phone and reverse the charges.

I agree that calling from the hotel is probably not the best option...

Hi !

In Puerto Plata, we couldn't use our cell phone so we had to call from the hotel. We used a calling card but there's an operator service. Be advise that phone lines are very bad sometimes !

If you opt to buy prepaid phone cards, buy them in the DR. My own luck has been bad with cards purchased outside the DR that say they can be used for international calling from the DR. Regards, PJT
