Default Information for cigar lovers out in the Eastern part of the island

I just learned that the son of a friend has opened the Tobacco Museum in Higuey. I think it is on the right side going into Higuey from Bavaro/Punta Cana and on the left leaving town for the coast. I understand that Bavaro Runners have regular tours there.

I can recommend ths place since the young man is the nephew of the former owner of the Davidoff factory, and the son of the only authorized Davidoff dealer in the DR. He has secured some good contact in Cuba, aparently, and would not sell fakes.

If you like or love cigars, this is going to be a must see on your trip. I have not been there yet, but I suppose the prices are "fair"..

And I am checking out a place in Bavaro, owned by a Quebequoise, he has a couple of lines but not that well known. He has a roller there, and I know where he gets his tobaccos.
I'll try and report on this a bit later...

Cool Thanks Bill

...for the very valuable information. This is especially useful for tourists seeking a cigar experience while visiting the Punta Cana, Bavaro resorts as well as any part of the eastern part of the DR. One question though. Why would anyone run a honest tourist related in the Dominican Republic? This has to be a first!

Basically, because the young man comes from a cigar family. His uncle is Henke Kelner who has made Davidoff cigars for nearly twentyfive years??(+/-)...

As Baldassare Castglione said in his famous work: The Courtier

The Count said: I would have our Courtier (cigar person) born of a noble and genteel family; because it is far less becoming for one of low birth to fail to do virtuous things than one of noble birth. For one of noble birth, should he stray fron the path of his forebears, stains the family name, and not only fails to achieve anything but loses what has been achieved already....

In other words, besides there being no need to gouge, there is a certain savoir faire that makes it unlikely....

At least until I find out differently..
