I am still trying to find out what this statement means: "Playa Naco is neat and very nice. It is in the heart of the Playa Dorada complex" What is Playa Dorado?

Guilty. Presumptions are always risky.

The Playa Dorada complex is the first area of the DR to be dedicated to tourism.. It was created by the Central Bank and is still owned by the bank. It consists of 13 or 14 hotels that are spread around a Robert T. Jones golf course, riding paths, tennis courts, a shopping mall and the beach, of course.

Jack Tar Village was the first to open along with Hotel Playa Dorada, the largest unit there. Back then it was operated by one of the major chains. There are casinos, fine restrauants, and lots of activities. There are even pizza parlors for woffing down fast food with the kids...

Do try to get out of the complex. You can walk to the front gate, get a bus into town for about $10.00 pesos..the ride lasts a few minutes and is very Dominican. You can go on a tour of the rum factory, go see the Ambar museum, the beautiful park and church and old victorian houses there in the heart of the town. Even the busy port is interesting to see.

Have fun..
