weather in august

We were planning on spending a week in Puerta Plata from the 18th of August till the 24th. I herad the weather was really humid and not very good for that time of year. Does anyone else have any information that they could give me?

That is about the time we always go up there for a week or so. it is warm, but you can play golf, swim or just hang with a wonderful abandon.

The most exciting thing that can happen is if we get an early (for us) hurricane along the south shore of the island and POP gets some waves...Doesn't happen often and hurricanes do not have any effect on the North Shore..

If you want, hang out here, and when the time comes we can hook up in August. often times I have to commute but I normally get a couple of days in to play golf and relax.
