Weather end of May?

Going to be in Punta Cana end of May, I know may is the rainy season, is it going to rain all day?? Or is it just hour long showers in the afternoon? (Like in Florida)

There is much less distinction between the seasons than there used to be. I can recall in the late 80s and early 90s that you could pretty much be sure of a lot of rain during certain months. But that is no longer the case. Part of the world-wide climate changes, I guess.
