Is the $1,000 tax exemption for Dominicans only valid at Xmas?

Hello,

I wanted to know (I did look in the archives and could not find anything) if the 1,000.00 gift exemption for returning Dominican Citizens was good at other times of the year.

I have heard that the citizen could not have been in the DR for six months prior to his or her arrival.

Anyone know? (Before I contact the DR consulate here in Miami and make myself look like a fool).

Though I'm not the last word, to the best of my knowledge this is only available at Christmas time. I know every year about Christmas there is an announcement made through the news media that the gift exemption is again being made available to Dominicans returning for the Christmas holidays.
