For Criss Cross: Your travel history show sin the actual passport, and the entries show just by the INS person flipping thru it.
For the folks whose ppt expires in December of this year, you can go ahead and apply now, but this is a busy time of year for ppt services. It would be better to wait until fall. The turn around time should be 2 weeks. You apply at the consulate, there on Nicolas Peson corner of Maximo Gomez.
For the person who had lots of passport questions: this feels like being at work and I cannot remember all of the questions, but here are a few answers for today: You cannot just "update the photo" becuase the passports are photodigitized, ie, part of the paper so there is not way to change them.
If you get a stamp in your passport in Cuba, and then cut the page out, YES the passport IS mutilated and is no longer useable for travel nor can it be renewed.
How many passports can you lose and still get another one? That depends, but it is at the decretion of each agency to make that decision.
