Default No problem,.....

Yes, you will be able to change Euros directly to Pesos. All the change banks list Euros as one of the currencies they exchange.

Arrow EURO exchange

Hi,
just got back from Pto. Pta. yesterday and would like to assure you that you can easily change Euros in almost all places on the north coast.

The exchange rates do vary, though!
The best we were given was 1 Euro = 15,90 RD$ and they gave it to us in the "Mariposa"-ice cream parlor right at central park, Pto Pta.

The lowest rate I had seen was 1 Euro = 15,30 RD$, which they were to grant in Cabarete.

So whatever lays in between should be reasonable....

Hope that helped you and have a safe trip and enjoy your time even though its rather slow over there at the moment!!!!

Sandra

Default euro versus dollar and dominican currency

I take the view that it does still make sense to buy dollars and not exchange euros in the DR.
The dollar rate is currently appr. 18 dominican pesos after the recent increase and the euro rate according to Sanny 's experience goes between 15.3 and 15.9
Today the euro/dollar exchange rate is 0,9824 ( yes we are catching up ) so if you take an average of 18 and apply the 0.9824 ratio you should get 17.68 dominican pesos for 1 euro.
The lower volume of transactions hence the smaller market in euro probably explains the gap as applied in the DR.
I personaly keep buying dollars before travelling .
