Hola a Todos!

I was wondering if anyone new of a place called the "Hideaway Beach Resort" They are Condos on the coast near Cabarete and Sousa. I wanted to know:
how close they are to the towns?
what the beach is like in front of the resort? surfing?
what the cost of renting a moped for a week would be?
any public transportation?

Thank you so much!!!!

Hi there,

yes, there is a place called "Hideaway Beach" near Sosua-Cabarete. I didn't know about it myself until my last trip about two weeks ago when I found an old friend who is working there now.

According to him, it is a neat and pretty place right at the beachfront. They opened it not too long ago. It is situated on the main road, on the left (when driving direction to Cabarete), after passing LTI Sol de Plata and Escondida Bay. They have a big sign posted on the road which you can't miss.

The beach has to be quite nice, too. We were invited to a beachparty, but couldn't attend. But our friend definately would not do a party there if it wasn't worth it - you know, if you live there you would certainly go to the best available spot to have your party at, wouldn't you?!?!

Regarding public transportation, you should not encounter a problem. If you can manage to walk to the main road you will have either gaguas or carro publicos taking you both ways to Sosua and Cabarete. They will cost you RD$ 5 at daytime and may charge RD$ 10 at night. If you prefer a motoconcho ride, you find them there too - maybe even at the resort itself - don't know if they can get that close..... They should charge RD$ 10 (daytime) and maybe RD$ 20 (nighttime). Well, and of course there are taxis available at all times....

Hope that helped you a bit. Sorry that I don't have any further details!

Sandra
