travel to DR

HI, i am arriving in punta cana on sep23rd, this is my first visit to DR.
i have car rental for the week, and like to travel to santa domingo and explore other cities.
any one interested in rooming and exploring?
any suggestion?
what essential one need?
like to meet cool peapole that have moved to DR.
how far is SD from punta cana? how is the road?
how fare is sousa that every one talkes about?
any iranians live in DR?

Can't answer all your questions but will try to answer some of them.
Yes there are Iranians living in the DR. I've met one or two when I've been there.
Bring bug spray and sunscreen. You'll need both.
Road from PC to SD is good to excellant and requires about 3 1/2 hrs. driving time. Lots of good places to stop and see along the way. Check the archives for more info on Alto de Chavron, Higuey, Altagracia cathedral, Bayahibe, La Romana, San Pedro,Juan Dolio, Boca Chica. All these places are on the south or south east coast.
Sosua is on the north coast and someone more familiar will have to tell you how far it is to drive. I'm not sure of the route unless you go through Santo Domingo.
