Default A notarized note from his parent or guardian will do!

Just to show that he hasn't been kidnapped or spirited away without his guardians permission........

Can you be a little clearer as to the nature of the problem. Children come with vacationing adults all the time and I have never heard of anyone having problems. Has someone explained to you why this trip for you is different? And the permission of which person or office is necessary?

Also, I'm curious what you mean by "our daughter's 16 year old mate."

apparently to take my daughters FRIEND on holiday with us we need to have a sworn affadavit and permission from the Consulate General costing in excess of £100. This information came from travel agent. We took our kids friends 2 years ago without any trouble.

Lightbulb Given the DR's Position as to child sex tourism

(real or imagined) according to the authorities anyway, they do this to ensure the FRIEND is not coming on a one way trip for nefarious purposes. When my daugher was under 16 even Canada/ US Customs and Immigration would at least ask her separately if she was travelling freely and I carried this very same notarized letter and photo signed by her mother.

US/Canada have found hundreds of kidnapped ( custody usually) kids at the border(s) using this process over the past years.

BTW Mexico has the same requirement and it has to be certified at the conulate and has to be in Spanish as well. And that's for parents ( one traveling vs. 2) - friends wold be even a more serious potential risk from their point of view.

I ran into this with a planned month in Mexico with the kids. I just had a notarized letter signed by my husband.

We didn't need it though. Compliments of 9/11.
