Default Probably a Dumb Question

But I can't seem to find the answer. If I would like a friend from DR to visit me here in Canada, what is this magical "invitation" letter that is required, and where do I get one? I assume there is more involved than merely writing a letter of invite and mailing it off, but for some reason, the Canadian embassy has not responded to my question. So, I thought I'd try you friendly folks. And before the debates start, the person I`d like to invite is a `female` friend (solamente!)
Thanks!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the letter should state, where you live, if the vistor is staying with you. That you will be responsible for the expenses of the visitor. I think even your income will help determine the visa. Call your local immigration office in Canada. They will tell you up front what the letter should say and this letter should be sent to the person applying. But if you look in the archives you'll find that it's not an easy task to get someone here for a visit. Good luck

Snowball's chance in hell. But good luck anyway. A friend of mine tried a few months ago for a 1 month visa (With invitation) : Owns his own house, wife & 3 kids, earns RD$20,000.00/month. Been at the same job for 10 years, has an international and a local credit card, bank accounts US$ and RD$, no debts. Part owner of a carpenter shop, no criminal record etc.. Guess what: NO.
