I know was told before not to carry aerosols and sprays on planes becuase the altitude change may cause them to explode, this may be why they were taking things like that away.

I had several cans of shaving cream and no one said anything.
Like I said: They are silly assholes, trying to be holier than thou.

If that had been me, I would have yelled like hell: "Hey! He just gave that guy money. Look in that bag!! Look in that Bag!! I'm not getting on that plane until they look in that Bag!!!"

Wake some people up...

I just traveled back and they didn't take any of my batteries but just before we were boarding the plane a guy was bringing on a boombox stereo. WEll, they made him take the batteries out and give them to them. He said he needed them to prove it worked but no luck. We had all our stuff gone through too and they almost took my electric shaver, shaving cream, digital camera memory card and hair spray. But after some talking to other(must have been their boss?) he let me take them. It was all in my checked luggage. Oh well, I am glad that they are being careful but I am sure they have seen these before and know what they are for?????

Is this happening in the POP airport as well, Island wide or is it a specific group of inspectors?

A friend of mine flew back from Puerto Plata yesterday. They did not have any of their items confiscated.

One can see the current list of prohibited and allowed items for travel in their carry-on and checked luggage (for flights originating in the USA) at http://129.33.119.130/public/interap...olicy_0010.xml

It is available in Spanish. Sounds like it might be a good idea to print it out in Spanish and bring it along on your trip.

Default Hey Criss,

That's my line..."Remember where you're at(sic)."

Actually, it's from a friend of a friend, but I have permission to plagiarize him.

BTW, he no longer goes to the DR, but to Central America.

My husband came through POP on Saturday ready with a long list of explanations and a long list of various items that he purchased for us in the US. Fully prepared, gung-ho and ready for all the flak. Lo and behold, no customs officer was anywhere to be found. Everyone off the flight just walked straight through.

So, I echo the statement "Remember where we live!". Anything can happen.

November the DR security go all my spare batteries from carry on, those in cd player and camera were not touched, the also got my bic lighter and cigar cutter (the one you would circumcize the pilot with) and a pen ( had to borrow one the fill out customs declaration.

Now last Saturday night the airport was so busy 14 planes on the tarmac in PC they threw are carry-on on the scanner, never opened anything and we were threw in seconds, while all flights to the US in the other lines had their checked baggage and carry-ons searched.
HB is right holier than thou assholes.
