Question Whale Watching??

Has anyone been on the whale watching tour at Samana and the silver bank on the end of Feb? How long of a trip from Punta Cana? Is it worth it?

Unless you take the ferry across Samana bay you are facing one heck of a long ride. If you don't get sea sick too easy it is an enjoyable trip, but there is no guarantee of seeing whales.

keilen, what tour are talking about. There are 1/2 tours that take passengers to see the whales in Samana Bay. I understand there are also some special groups that go out to Silver Bank, but those are multi-day tours and very expensive.

Late February is a very good time to see the whales in Samana Bay. The excursion is worthwhile, but it is a long trip from Punta Cana, unless you book one of the tours that makes provision to get you there and back the same day.

Just back from my Samana trip.
Did the three hour excursion with Kim Beddall.
What an unforgettable trip.
We had numerous sightings and three total breachings..
What an incredible sight. Only about 50 meters away.
For only US$ 42. For me the experience was priceless.
The lodgings however were very forgettable.
The Tropical Lodge at US $ 45 is definitely not recommendable.
I heard this was the best available. Well a sad state for the city of Samana. However Le France a restaurant a little down the road
was supurb.
