So all the plans have been made....The whole trip is booked..I am buying my big spray and suncream etc at the weekend..and the wedding is still on :0)

In light of all this are there any further things I need to be ready for to enjoy my honeymoon in this country...Staying at the Iberostar Costa Dorada are there any local romatic spots that can be recommended? Any other info anyone can give to make the best out of my Honeymoon would be great!

Thanks to all for all your help and advice for some of my silly questions over the past year or so.... :-)

Congrats!! My suggestion: You will have the best honeymoon if you leave the resort as much as possible.

Meet the people, see the country...you will have a wonderful time.

Check out the links to Puerto Plata, Playa Grande, Cabarete, and Sosua under the Destinations section of the left side bar. Lots of info on what to do and see.

I think Playa Grande is a bit more than an hour from Playa Dorada.

Nelly is right - get out & about with the Dominicans & you'll have a ball. Keep the heavy gold jewellery in the hotel, little money only in your wallet/purse & use public transport rather than those taxis outside the hotel gate!!! Do it the Dominican way, smile a lot, shake hands (or have bear hugs) with the locals & you will be a brother for life!!

Don't miss a trip up the cable car (the only one in the Caribbean) but make sure you choose a day that has clear skies over the mountain top when you look out in the morning!! Again, use a public taxi, not the hotel one & make sure you negotiate a price before you start off. Use him to pick you up a couple of hours later if you want, but don't pay for the trip until he comes to pick you up & returns you to the hotel.
