HB, do you realize that this is a term used almost exclusivley in English now by women (maybe men, I don't know) who drop their laundry on the stage for money? A 'kit' is where you keep the clothes, and a 'kaboodle' is everything else, including all the makeup, pasties, etc. FYI.

Don't ask me how I learned that.

Default Ahem!

"--the whole kit and caboodle" Informal. the entire collection or lot. [Middle English kytt, kitt wooden tub, from Middle Dutch kitte†, jug, tankard.]

From American Heritage Dictionary.......

"kit" that you refer to does not include the "caboodle"

Old West Virginian saying....

Pappy brought the whole kit and caboodle to church.
