this sort of thing fits exactly, but Islands Magazine Sept/Oct Issue has an article on the Dominican Republic and DR1 gets mention in the web sites. This link might get you there:

"Mention may...

be the wrong word.....in the hard copy article DR1 is one of a couple of citations for reader to get more information. No words attached to it.

I don't know about mentioning DR1, but I thought it was a pretty good article, though short. I've always wanted to go and see that part of the country - One of the few parts I have never visited. Only gone as far as Barahona. So this year, I plan to make a trip there, when I go in December. I've heard the Bahia is beautiful. It will mean a lot of traveling, though, as I also want to visit Playa Rincon (My favorite beach in the DR) again. Can't wait...Only three months to go.

It's probably ho-hum.....

to the old DR1 hands, but a second look at the magazine's web site turned up something probably more helpful and interesting than the shill article in first post:

I found in particular the maps pretty good [tho' there's about a gazillion on the web]; and in the archives an excellent write up, much longer, from a fellow who went on what he describes as an off beat excursion into the center of the country. Definitely piqued my interest in the interior....if one has the time there's more to see/do than the beaches and bars.

Lastly, there's also about half dozen links, including DR1 [which garnered 3 stars compared to Debbie's Travel, which aced it with 4]. So, if nothing else here's more grist for the dreamers and new comers' planning mill!!
