Cabarete Bay Hotel

Have just started travelling. First trip was to Estrella Del Mar and really enjoyed for the one week we were there. We have book for a 2 week stay in March but have heard rumors that the place is boarded up and lights out.
We have also heard that it will re-open on December 1/03.
Does anyone have any information about this place.

I really dont think Estrella del Mar is gonna open in Dec they have big legal sue with the guys at Starz Resorts.

Apparently Sunquest is still booking winter vacations for the hotel. One of the ladies in our office has booked for the first week of March. She is trying to change hotels but Sunquest is resisting the change without penalties. They are saying the hotel will soon re-open. Does anyone out there have any more information about the hotels problems?

Had a quick nose into the Estrella del Mar this am? Some maintenance works have started - a bit of digging, some materials on site, a few people wandering about and they're ripping off the cane fronds from one of the beach shade shelters.
Gates and barriers are still down and tightly closed!!

Now they've got a huge pile of cement bags and concrete blocks and there's digging going on everywhere? What are they building? AND Why??
Someone must have started to sort out the previous problems.
