URGENT PUNA CANA HOTEL ADVICE NEEDED,

MY wife and I mature couple are going to DR. for the 4 th time since 1997. Last time in Dominicus Beach, Bayahibe in March 1999. This time I bought last minute air at a bargain price and are going without full hotel reservation at beginning of the year.
WE are looking for a hotel to stay that night and will check in late.

Most resorts are sold out. Anyway at $120 - $160 US pp are too pricey. We obtained a few days at Occidental Allegro.

Does anyone know of available apartment hotels at the beach. Princess Bavaro is advertising but only 12 units.

Any other options that anyone knows of; such as a home stay and rent a car.

Please help out if you can. I can speak some Spanish and get along Ok with Dominican people.
