Going to the DR next week (11 Jan) and was hoping to catch some beisbol. Will be staying in Puerto Plata. Where's the closest team, how far away, and what's the best way to get there? I assume I can scalp tickets outside the stadium (with the customary 50% markup for Americans)? I'd especially love to see Escogido, with David 'MVP' Ortiz.

There are games in the Santiago Stadium -- Cibao. Recommend you either befriend a taxi driver to go to the game and back with you or you overnight in Santiago. It's an hour from Puerto Plata -- but night time driving is not recommended for you to do on your own.
