flying from dr to cuba or other islands

can anybody help we r in dr for a year but we would like a look at cuba can we fly from portillo if so any ideas how much it would cost,and is cuba safe,is it expensive when u get there

Cubana flies from Santo Domingo to Havana a couple of days a week for around (best guess US$330 or so) , that is about it unless you can find a charter flight, which have been mentioned here before.

With the heavy government oversight, petty crime, property crime and personal danger are almost non-existent.

And the prices are manageable, take lots of small US$ , $1's especially.

The poverty is unbelivable if you get to the smaller towns away from touristy stuff. Try to stay in casas particular vs. hotels so the locals get some money and they are very nice hosts.
