Question Iberostar Dominicana Last Minute Questions

undefined I am leaving on 5/16 & will be staying at the Iberostar Dominicana resort. Repsonses are appreciated from only those who actually stayed at this resprt.

I have visited many of the DR posting sites & the jury seems to be out for me on a couple of things. Some folks report an odd smell in the room. I am bringing some candles & fabric softener sheets to curtail that if that is the case. What is your take on the rooms? I am going with my Mom and am really getting excited. I also wonder if there are ocean front rooms? My travel agent requested one for us but do you have any idea if they are available & if so how do I go about getting one? Again some people on the boards are saying there aren't any ocean front/or ocean view rooms available at this resort because of the location. Any input on this would also be appreciated.

Did you feel safe there? I have heard there is gun toting security at the airports. As an American & with the state of the world, all this concerns me.

Last question.... Did you have any trouble with any of the restaurants? What I mean is, when I went to Cancun, I expected trouble with some of the food/drinks causing upset stomach & prepared myself by coating my stomach with pepto before I left. Did you experience any problems of the sort, and if so, what & what do you think the source of the problems were? We want to be able to enjoy the cocktails but I am concerned by the ones we favor and the ice in them. What's your take on this?

If you have time, I would really appreciate a reply & any other advice you can give me.

Thanks so much for your time & assistance!!!!!!!

Sounds like you have not travelled much lately. Why would gun-toting airport security I am NOT American, but if you aren't doing anything wrong what's the issue?

No I have not stayed at that hotel. I CAN however let you know that it is fine to drink the drinks WITH ice. It is also FINE to eat outside your resort, and you know what? Most cases of illness I have heard about have been at all in clusive resorts where the food, buffet style, sits out too long and is also recycled.

Try not to worry so much and just have a good time.
